Department of Education headquarters moving to different building in DC
WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — The Department of Education’s (DOE) headquarters in D.C. is packing up its things and moving to a different building.
The DOE headquarters, currently located along Maryland Avenue in Southwest, is still staying in the District, but it is moving to a smaller office.
This comes as the agency has thinned since President Donald Trump dismantled it.
The administration has not said where the DOE headquarters will move to.
In a statement, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser said the move is “consistent with our goals as a city.”
“The Department of Education is relocating to an office in Washington, DC better suited to their needs, and the Department of Energy is moving into an existing federal office building that will serve them for the long-term. This now provides the opportunity for DC and the federal government to collaborate on a vision … which could make way for new cultural, entertainment, and other uses that bring vibrancy and new economic activity to our city,” Boswer’s statement said in part.
