Monthly dinner bridges gap between law enforcement and those rebuilding their lives
MINOT, ND (KXNET) — Law enforcement and people looking to reenter the community after incarceration now have a place to sit down together, once a month, and just talk.
The F5 Project in Minot launched a monthly dinner connecting those two groups over a shared meal.
It’s called the Reentry and Connection Dinner, held the first Monday of each month at Bread of Life Lutheran Church. Each dinner features speakers sharing their own reentry stories.
F5 Project Care Coordinator Jeannie Hochstrasser said the goal is to break down stigma, highlight success stories, and give people a reason to believe things can get better. Hochstrasser is sharing her own story at the first event and said the relationships that helped her along the way are what she wants to talk about most.
“I share my story pretty often, but I’m really excited to share it in this capacity,” she said. “My former PO will be there so she’s always been super instrumental in my story and I just really thrive off showing people that positive side of things because she’s one of my good friends today. She’s been pivotal, and I think when people see those two types of communities coming together, it can really change the way somebody decides to move forward with their journey.”
The meal begins at 6:30 p.m., and anyone is welcome to attend. Bread of Life Lutheran Church is providing the meal.
