Tiger Woods arrested and charged with DUI after rollover crash on Jupiter Island

Golf legend Tiger Woods is in jail following a rollover crash Friday afternoon on Jupiter Island.

According to the Martin County Sheriff's Office, it happened around 2 p.m. near 281 Beach Road on Jupiter Island when Woods struck the back of a trailer and rolled his Land Rover over.

“As he was trying to move to the side of the road, the Land Rover overtook him at the last minute, swerved to avoid a collision, but clipped the back end of the trailer of the pressure cleaner apparatus," officials said during a news conference.

They said he exemplified signs of impairment.

"They did several tests on him. Of course, he did explain the injuries and the surgeries that he had. We did take that into account," officials said.

Sheriff John Budensiek said some in-depth roadside tests were done, and when it was determined, Woods was placed under arrest and taken to the Martin County Jail.

"At the Martin County Jail, and even on scene, we really weren't suspicious of alcohol being involved in this case, and that proved to be true at the jail," Budensiek said. "So, Mr. Woods did a breathalyzer test, blew triple zeros, but when it came time for us to ask for a urinalysis test, he refused."

Woods has been charged with DUI, property damage, and refusal to submit to a lawful test.

Woods has been working his way back to competitive golf after rupturing his Achilles tendon in March 2025 and later undergoing back surgery in October. He made his first appearance in over a year during Tuesday’s TGL finals, where his Jupiter Links GC team fell to the Los Angeles Golf Club.

In February 2021, Woods sustained serious leg injuries in a single-vehicle crash in Southern California.

He was on his way to a television shoot for GolfTV a little after 7 a.m. when his SUV crashed into a median, rolled over, and ended up on its side near a steep road known for wrecks, authorities said. He had to be pulled out through the windshield.
