Tiger Woods arrested for DUI after SUV rollover crash in Florida again

Tiger Woods, the 50-year-old golf legend with more career comebacks than a boomerang, found himself in handcuffs Friday afternoon after a rollover crash in Jupiter Island, Florida led to a DUI arrest. The Martin County Sheriff's Office confirmed the incident, which unfolded just before 2 p.m. and, thankfully, left no one physically injured.
According to officials, Woods was behind the wheel of a dark Land Rover when he clipped a truck that was towing a trailer. The truck's driver told investigators he had just begun turning into a driveway off a two-lane road when he spotted the SUV approaching fast in his rearview mirror. He attempted to get out of the way, but the Land Rover overtook him at the last second, swerved, and still managed to make contact with the back of the trailer. The SUV then rolled onto the driver's side door.
Woods climbed out through the window. At 50, crawling out of a rolled SUV is not exactly what the doctor ordered, but here we are.
A Familiar Script With a New Chapter
Responding officers suspected impairment at the scene. Woods agreed to a breathalyzer test but declined a urine test. He told police he had been taking medication to manage injuries from previous incidents, which, given his medical history, is not a stretch. He was arrested on the spot and transported to a local jail. He also faces a separate charge for refusing the urine test.
For those keeping score at home, this is not the first time Woods has been here. In 2017, he was arrested for DUI in Florida and later checked himself into a clinic for treatment related to prescription medication. Then came the far more serious 2021 crash in Rolling Hills Estates, California, where his Genesis GV80 left the road at more than double the posted 45 mph speed limit, struck a tree, and landed on its side. That crash caused significant injuries and raised serious questions about the investigation after authorities chose not to seek a warrant for blood samples that could have revealed whether impairment played a role. No charges were filed from that incident.
Just days before Friday's crash, Woods had competed in a match for Tomorrow's Golf League, where his Jupiter Links Golf Club squad lost to the Los Angeles Golf Club in the finals. So it had already been a rough week, and not just in the landscaping sense.
Car enthusiasts like to joke that a true driver never clips anything. Woods, apparently, is still working on his lane discipline off the course. To be clear, there is nothing funny about impaired driving, and this situation carries real weight. But for a man who has spent decades recovering from injuries and returning to the game, the choices that keep landing him in a Florida police report are genuinely baffling.
No charges have been formally filed beyond the arrest as of Friday evening, and the situation will likely develop further in the coming days.
