Trump just announced a wild new change to US paper currency, and the internet is... not taking it well
What do The Kennedy Center and the dollar bill have in common?

I'll give you a hint...

If you guessed that they both say "Donald Trump," you're correct! Yup, Trump just announced the latest addition to the lineup of things he's slapping his name onto: the U.S. dollar bill.

As is the case with most things Trump does, no other U.S. president has ever put their signature on currency. This redesign is supposed to commemorate America's 250th birthday.

What a celebratory thing to do during such a celebratory time in our country!

The $100 bill is first in line to receive this facelift. It will be printed featuring Trump's signature starting this summer.

As you'd expect, people online have A LOT of thoughts about this. Given the president's historic tendency to make everything about himself, many said it's hardly surprising.

Others called out how particularly out of touch this feels during such tough economic times. Nothing says "read the room" quite like slapping your signature on the dollar bill while millions of Americans are struggling to afford gas and groceries.

Many people shared some...creative ideas for putting their own spin on a Trump-branded dollar bill.
Yup, LOTS of creativity on that front.

Of all the ideas, there's one that feels most fitting: "If you get a dollar bill with Trump’s name on it," someone wrote, "black it out with a Sharpie. He prefers his name heavily redacted."

On the bright(ish) side, there's now reason to be thankful when you *don't* have cash in your pocket!

Recently, the president has voiced concern over autopen signatures being "illegitimate." So, if he practices what he preaches, this is bound to be quite the undertaking.

"that'll keep him busy," one person joked on the matter.

Jokes aside, many people fear the more sinister implications of this show of authority.
"It's a humiliation ritual," one person wrote. "He's about to sign off the death of the US dollar."

Another person didn't mince any words, writing, "Trump is the personification of totalitarianism.
