A central Massachusetts diner was evacuated Friday morning after a vehicle crashed into its side, causing heavy damage, according to the Holden Fire Department.

First responders said the driver was suffering a medical emergency. The driver was treated on scene before being taken to an area hospital.

"(The driver) seemed confused. I mean, I’m not a medical professional, so I’m not sure. There wasn’t any blood or anything noticeable per se, so I’m not exactly sure what was going on," diner manager Sarah Dwyer said. "He's a regular customer. I’ve known him 11 years. We’re just really worried for him."

No one in the diner was injured.

The building was heavily damaged and was closed by the building inspector until structural engineers could evaluate it.

The crash remains under investigation.
