Cocke County mom raises money for TSA workers going without paychecks
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - A Cocke County mother is stepping up to help TSA workers who are currently going without a paycheck.
Kayleen Ramsey says she started a Facebook page, “Run It Forward Number 6,” after losing her son, McKayne, when he was just 19 years old. She says the goal is to honor his memory by spreading kindness and generosity.
Ramsey says she saw a Facebook post from WVLT’s Casey Wheeless about local donations being collected for TSA employees, so she put out a call for help through her page.
In just two hours, she says they raised $500. Ramsey says the money was split into $20 gift cards, which were given to TSA workers Friday morning.
“This community, I just can’t say enough about it. Every time I ask for any help, any type of donations in honor of McKayne, everybody steps up so fast and quick it just does my mom heart so good,” Ramsey said.
Ramsey says anyone who wants to donate can look for “Run It Forward Number 6” on Facebook for updates and ways to give.
