Eastern NC task force nabs Texas driver near Greenville with nearly 20 lbs of cocaine clad with Coca-Cola logos, SBI says

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — An eastern North Carolina drug task force stopped a Texas driver just outside Greenville and discovered nearly 20 pounds of cocaine this week, officials said Friday.

The bust, which found the cocaine wrapped in Coca-Cola packaging, happened Wednesday in the area of U.S. 264 and the N.C. 11 Bypass just west of Greenville, according to a Friday afternoon North Carolina SBI news release.

The Greenville Police Department stopped a driver following an investigation by the Greenville Regional Drug Task Force, the SBI said.

A Greenville Police K-9 assisted in the search that led to a suitcase filled with 9 kilograms (19.8 pounds) of cocaine, the news release said.

A photo from the task force showed nine shrink-wrapped packages with a Coca-Cola red and white sign and bottle graphic on each package.

Trevino Dionicio, 32, from Houston, Texas, was taken into custody, officials said.
