Man killed in hit-and-run crash, Cobb County police say
ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A man died in a hit-and-run crash Wednesday, Cobb County police said.
Jeffrey Ryder, 53, was killed in a crash at the intersection of South Cobb Drive and Barclay Circle, near Dobbins Air Reserve Base, around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Ryder was reportedly driving north on South Cobb Drive when a car driven by Alberto Martinez, 35, made a left turn from South Cobb Drive to Barclay Circle.
The turn caused Ryder to hit Martinez. The force of the collision threw Ryder from his car.
Police said Martinez drove away without stopping to render aid. Ryder was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
Martinez has been charged with first-degree vehicular homicide, hit and run and other traffic charges. He is not yet in custody.
