Troopers arrest 3 for alleged street racing on major freeway near Tempe
TEMPE, AZ (AZFamily) — A recent targeted enforcement operation against street racing resulted in the arrest of three people who were allegedly racing near a major freeway interchange in the East Valley.
According to the Department of Public Safety, troopers learned about a street racing “meetup” that was taking place on Saturday, March 21, on the Loop 101 Pima Freeway near the Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway.

DPS said a trooper working in an unmarked vehicle saw the racing on multiple occasions and relayed descriptions so marked units could move in.
Troopers conducted traffic stops and impounded three vehicles, DPS said. The three drivers were arrested.
DPS did not immediately release the identities of those arrested or the charges they could face.
DPS reminded drivers that street racing is dangerous and illegal and encouraged the public to report aggressive or reckless driving.
