2 transported after crash on US Route 50

WOOD COUNTY, W.Va. (WTAP) - A two vehicle crash shut down U.S. Route 50 near mile marker 21 for a short time Friday afternoon in Wood County near Volcano Road
Lt. Matt Hupp with the Wood County Sheriff’s Office said the crash happened near involved a blue Nissan and a tan SUV.
Hupp said both vehicles were attempting to travel eastbound at the time of the wreck with the blue Nissan attempting to come off Volcano Road.
Hupp said three patients were treated.
Wood County 911 Dispatch said the call came in at about 4:00 p.m., and Ritchie County EMS and Camden Clark Ambulance Service transported at least two patients.
Hupp said U.S. Route 50 was fully closed for about 15 minutes before traffic began moving again.
Deerwalk Volunteer Fire Department, Cairo Volunteer Fire Department, Ritchie County EMS and Camden Clark Ambulance service responded to the scene.
Hupp said the crash remains under investigation at this time.
