UConn taking on Duke in highly anticipated Elite Eight matchup

WASHINGTON DC (WFSB) - The UConn men will face Duke in the Elite Eight, adding another chapter to the storied matchup between two of college basketball’s most successful programs.
The No. 2 Huskies will take on the No. 1 Blue Devils on Sunday afternoon at the Capital One Arena in Washington. D.C.

UConn and Duke history
This game will feature two of the winningest programs in college basketball history.
The Huskies have six national titles while Duke has five.
UConn beat them back in 1999 for their first ever national championship.
In 2004, UConn beat Duke in the Final Four on their way to their second national title. The Huskies won that game 79-78.
In 1990, Duke beat UConn in the Elite 8 on a Christian Laettner buzzer beater.
The next year, Duke beat UConn in the Sweet 16 on their way to the national title.
Coming off close game with Michigan State
The Huskies beat Michigan State 67-63 in a tumultuous Sweet 16 game.
UConn was ahead most of the game. At one point, they even had a 19-point lead.
However, the Spartans come back in the second half and even took the lead.
After much back-and-forth and many foul shots, UConn powered through with a final score of 67-63.
The road to the Sweet 16
UConn took down No. 15 Furman and No. 7 UCLA to earn its matchup with MSU.
UConn went into the tournament ranked No. 7 in the poll.
