UTEP men’s basketball lands trio of top recruits from San Antonio’s Brennan High

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — UTEP men’s basketball is off to a solid start in building its 2026-27 roster, with three early additions all coming from Brennan High School in San Antonio, Texas.

Isaiah Ward, a 6’6” forward, verbally committed to UTEP on Tuesday, March 24.

Ward is the 48th ranked power forward nationally in the class of 2026 and the No. 20 recruit in the entire state of Texas, according to 247Sports.

Donovan Criss, a 6’6” guard, signed with UTEP last November.

He is the No. 9 recruit in Texas and chose the Miners over Arizona State, Mississippi State, North Texas, and Virginia Tech.

Delano Tarpley, a 7’0” center, also signed with UTEP last November.

All three players helped Brennan reach the UIL 6A Division I state championship game this season, falling just one win short of the title.

So far, these are solid pickups for UTEP as the Miners look to reload for the next season, their first season in the Mountain West Conference.
